Superior Credit Union’s story has never been about standing still. In October 1954, 20 employees of the Superior Coach Corporation signed a charter and started a credit union inside the company’s Lima, Ohio, factory. It was a simple cooperative idea: people who worked together could also help one another build stronger financial lives.
Then, in 1981, the factory closed. For many organizations, that would have been the end of the story. Superior chose a different direction. With approximately 2,500 members at the time, the credit union successfully pursued a community charter—the first granted in the United States to a city with more than 50,000 residents. An institution created for one group of coworkers became a financial cooperative for an entire community.
More than seven decades after its founding, Superior now serves over 100,000 members through 25 Western Ohio offices and manages more than $1.9 billion in assets.
Today, Superior is opening another new path for its members: digital investing powered by Eko.
Superior’s growth has often been measured in new communities, partnerships, and branches. This expansion is different.
Instead of asking members to visit another location or establish a relationship with an unfamiliar investment platform, Superior is bringing investing to the place many members already manage their financial lives: online and mobile banking.
The new experience gives members a convenient way to begin investing, develop a portfolio, and work toward long-term goals without downloading a separate app or managing another login.
It is a modern addition to Superior’s services, but the thinking behind it remains connected to the credit union’s original cooperative purpose: give everyday people practical financial tools and help them use those tools with confidence.
Superior’s digital investing experience reflects the five promises at the heart of its member commitment:
Together, these features make investing more approachable while keeping the experience connected to the credit union members already trust.
Credit unions have always helped people save. Digital investing gives Superior another way to help members think beyond the next transaction or the next month.
That does not mean every member has to become a market expert. It means every member can have a place to start. A new investor can choose a ready-made portfolio. Someone who wants more personalization can take a hybrid approach. A confident investor can build a portfolio independently. Members can begin at their own level and adapt their approach as their goals and experience change.
That flexibility feels especially fitting for an institution whose own history has been defined by adaptation.
Eko provides the investment technology, compliance infrastructure, digital onboarding, and ongoing platform support that make this experience possible.
By handling the specialized infrastructure behind digital investing, Eko enables Superior to offer a modern investment experience while continuing to focus on the relationships and financial education at the center of its mission. The technology works behind the scenes. The member relationship remains Superior’s.
